I need a car that tells me it’s rapid, even if it’s lying to my face.

If I had $1500 and the means to travel 500 kilometres I’d buy that Peugeot in a heartbeat. That Skoda is tasty as well, not many at all left, even fewer than Ladas.

Rapid...maybe not, but I REALLY want a rear-engined Skoda in my stable alongside the FIAT 126p I hope to import someday!

I am reaaaalllllyyy digging that Skoda. The Peugeot is awesome as well! The Skoda is even plated, so in theory you could buy it and drive it back if it was all in working order...the guy claims it runs and drives, so!

Sounds like it's time to rent a flatbed and head out to Aberta. That'd be one hell of a road trip..

I really do want to drive across the country someday...and a weird classic would make it all the better! Maybe I’ll take my FIAT 126p when I finally am able to import one. I at least want to take it on a trip to the Cape
Breton Highlands (haven’t been there since I was a kid)
...preferably after a brake upgrade to front discs
though...all drum brakes and steep mountain passes do not mix, lol.

Oh man this week I badly want that Skoda and damn its cheap. I grew up across the street from the family that owned the city’s Skoda dealership and so saw these ever day. Now according to their wikipedia entry they’re endangered (at least in the UK).
“Today the Škoda Rapid is gaining in popularity as a classic car with Garde and convertible models being most sought after. According to the website “How Many Left?”, there were a total of 50 Škoda Rapids left on British roads in 2011.”
EDIT: just checked that website Md now
there’s literally
one Skoda Rapid 130 left road registered
in the UK!

Yeah, I agree that a road trip with some old car elements would be fun. The idea of driving something not much smaller than a tractor trailer or 2000 miles is a little.. daunting

I commented before looking at all the pics. I'm amazed at how intact the Peugeot's interior appears to be..

Maybe just a bit! :P

That’s what I thought! Yes, it has some external rust as well, but nothing that looks (at least in those pictures) terrible at all...up close, you have to wonder if it would be a different story, but it’s a very nice restoration candidate to my eyes for not much money!

Fly to Canada, road trip to Saskatchewan, road trip the Skoda back and ship it over? :P

I already live
in Canada so I’m half way there ;)
now
it’s a mere 26 hour (straight)
drive
from my house to fetch it
...

gib the Skoda

Ah, your UK mentions made me think you were there! But if you’re already here, I say we collaborate on a ‘Collection Caper’ :P
Joking of course, but I do wish I had the time, money and living situation to let me do it. I’ve been saving up to import a FIAT 126p, so when the time comes for that, it’s going to have to have
be the only project car
for the time being lol...

I REALLY want the Skoda....Rapids are pretty rare compared to the sedans, even! Well, at least as far as I know...

For it to be a
proper caper you’d need
the right car transport vehicle...

That is awesome!
